It's hard to believe that it's been over 3 months since we've started on this path, but time flies in the midst of self-exploration!
I hope you're feeling proud of how far you've come and optimistic about your future as a healthy, happy, and beautifully balanced person. What we've accomplished together is really just the tip of the iceberg in terms of your potential for wellness, and I encourage you to continue tuning in to your body and listening to its wisdom and guidance.
Remember to maintain all of your new healthy habits and not let life impinge on time needed for self-care. Use this blog as reference whenever you need a little inspiration or motivation to get back on track, and of course I'm always here for you if you need me.
Here are my last few recommendations:
1. Increase your probiotics to at least 100 billion CFU daily, which can be taken in the morning and at night as two 50-80 billion supplements or, if you can find it, as coconut kefir. Tula's coco kefir is my favorite brand and this is available at many small health food stores in NYC, and Inner-Eco is the brand I've seen at Whole Foods in the same refrigerated section as the supplements.
Here are a few more ways you can reduce yeast infections:
-use hypoallergenic and chemical-free laundry detergent and soap
-reduce your sugar intake even further
-eat more raw garlic and fermented foods
-use tea tree oil or raw garlic... down there (maybe start with coconut oil as that is a more pleasant though milder antifungal)
-keep your clothes loose and dry
-are you on birth control? if so, take a break from it for a few months as there is often a link between birth control and candida!
If you implement these changes and you're still having yeast infections in 1-2 months, then I highly recommend a complete sugar cleanse and reading The Body Ecology diet. Don't ignore this problem, it's 100% treatable!
To support your acupuncture, healthy diet, and adequate rest & relaxation in bringing back aunt flo, I recommend you get yourself some...
1. organic red raspberry leaf tea and/or blackberry tea (very common wherever tea is sold), here's my herbal recipe for nourishing your lady parts :)
2. maca powder (health food stores or Whole Foods)
Drink the tea daily, I love it with lemon. And add the maca to smoothies, yogurt, or sprinkle over other foods, just make sure to start out with a very small amount as taking too much too fast can lead to feeling woozy. Start with 1/8 teaspoon daily for 3-4 days, then 1/4 teaspoon for a few days before going up to more. 1/2 teaspoon 4-5 days a week should be a good amount for you, just remember that our bodies like consistency, so it won't have time to work its magic if you just take it once.
The awesome learning center/cafe/bookstore I mentioned is the New York Open Center. They're on 30th and 5th and it's a great place to take an evening or weekend workshop on all sorts of interesting things. Maybe I'll see you there one day!
It's been such a pleasure getting to know you over the past few months Phoebe. I wish you nothing but wellness and joy in the months and years ahead, I know you're well on your way.
